Original Description:
This wonderful little cherub face, now a wall plaque, I believe is French, carved of wood, and dates to the 18th century. I found it at the Wellesley, MA estate sale of artist Lois Gross Smiley (1925-2019), a prolific artist who came up with the Abstract Expressionists in NYC and lived most of her life there, and who had a great collection of antique to contemporary art and objects from around the world.The surface of this piece is beautifully weathered to smoothness. On the back... it appears it may have been sealed; it is hard and smooth, and there is a little hook attached for hanging. This is truly a lovely little thing. It measures 2 1/2” wide x 2 5/8” tall x 1 1/2” deep.
