This is a vintage Emig item in very good condition with no signs of wear, though it does have what appears to be the remnants left by a piece of masking tape on the front left (see photo). I did not attempt to remove it. It measures 17-3/4" long x 13" high and weighs 1.25 lbs and is marked "EMIG 1481" on the back.It appears to be a weather vane, but has small holes on either end for mounting (on a wall?).I have seen this item posted elsewhere, stating that it is cast aluminum, tho...ugh it feels heavier than aluminum to me. It is certainly sturdy. This is a great piece of Americana, depicting a Colonial lamplighter at Boston's Post Road.
Robert Emig was a distributor of decorative metalware from the 1950's to the 1980's. Robert Emig Products was incorporated as a business on December 20, 1956. Their main offices, showroom and factory were located in Reading, PA.
