FEATURED: A very simple, unusual Arts & Crafts Era solid Copper shallow bowl, with an intriguing geometric design 'overlaid' onto the bowl surface. We love the appliqued look to this piece, created by etching with an acid onto the copper bowl, leaving behind afterwards this raised design. Very tiny incised points around the design add a subtle accent to it as well. This wonderful creation is not hallmarked or stamped, so we have a mystery as to its maker an...d locale origin. We think it's an intriguing piece from the Mission/Roycroft era of skilled metal craftsmen, in small shops everwhere in America but then Europe had equally talented & skilled designers as well, producing wonderfully simple, elegant work like this handsome piece, so... We loved the aged and slightly mottled patina on this, including its old surface wear, and also loved its rim, which is seamless and sleek. Very plain yet striking and hipster now, and a great example of what that Mission Era was all about. A super item to have for a Copper or Arts & Crafts collection, and a interesting design not ususally found in items from this era.
MEASURES: 6.5 inches diameter, 1 inch tall. Not hallmarked or stamped. Made of heavy solid copper, with original aged patina, has not been cleaned or polished at all. In excellent condition, with no damage anywhere. Hand-crafted with a very cool geometric design, which was cleverly done with an etching technique onto the copper, leaving this stylized raised look. A wonderful example of classic metalsmith talent at work, a timeless piece for us to admire and use for decades ahead.
