Vintage Meylan (Lemania CH 27 movement, same as Omega cal 321) Decimal Dial Chronograph. Condition is Pre-owned. AR and JE Meylan were based in New York city. They made high end stopwatches and chronographs. They were an official importer of Lemania, Omega, Tissot in the 40's. This is a gorgeous original decimal dial chronograph from the mid to late 40's based on the Lemania serial number of 25, 400 which is quite early. Decimal dials were used in navigation whe...n a plane would fly 3.5 hours in one heading then 4.2 on another heading. There are no engravings on the back. This watch is from the estate of a former B29 navigator (don't know his name). Numbers retain some original radium lume (tested with a Geiger) and hands are original but relumed. Nice 34mm without crown, 37mm with crown size. Watch sets, winds, and keeps time within 20 seconds per day. Chronograph buttons function and all 3 registers keep time properly. Stops properly when button pushed but hour register dial does not reset correctly to zero when pushed, whereas seconds hand and minute register do reset properly to zero, so an adjustment is required for perfect function. The dial although original and rare has had some of its lettering damaged around the top edge (some idiot probably tried to clean it with some jewelry cleaner) but is greater than 90% in pristine condition.
