W.F.DAVIS - NEWPORT R.I. Select Splice Neck Wood Circa 1893 - 1899 spilce neck head - stamped on top W.F.DAVIS - NEWPORT R.I. has a tan color horn for leading edge - lead in rear of head . there is a early reepair crack just under whipping on right side of neck .Antique hickory wood shaft, , nice shaft but for bend that are in many early golf woods - shaft had some early listing still on it .The shaft is also stamped W.F. DAVIS - NEWPORT R.I. .Great mid to late splice neck wood ....Made by the first golf professional golfer in North America . Was club pro and designer in Montreal , Canada before coming to The Newport Country club in 1993 and designed the first nice hole .1899 he designed the second nine holes . William (Willie) Davis made his clubs by hand and was one of one of the great club porffesionals and gold course designers on his time . Born 1963 - to 1902 .
