HTF Vintage MOD TNT BARBIE VELVETEENS 1818 OF EXC/Comp SEARS Exclusive BIN
Item History & Price
This Velveteens outfit for Barbie reminds me of the outfits the Partridge family wore for concerts! Velveteens is a Hard to Find outfit, as it was a Sears Exclusive outfit only available in 1967. This is only the 2nd time I've ran across this outfit in over 30 years of collecting! This outfit is in Excellent and Complete condition. The delicate blouse on the jumpsuit had some pulling and fraying at the side seams, which have been repaire...d. The velvet is in great condition and should display well. I've collected vintage Barbie for 30+ years, and I scrutinize items I sell on eBay. If you have a question that I haven't answered in my description, please ask me:). You may want to save me as a seller as I'm selling a large vintage Barbie collection on eBay.
I have tried to take the most accurate photos possible so that you can judge the condition; the jacket looks great inside and out. The velvet is lush and the color is good. The jacket is wrinkled from storage and needs to be steamed. The lining is clean and unworn, and the button still has its rhinestone. The button loop is broken and needs to be resewn. The jumpsuit looks good also; it's clean with nice color on the velvet. The lace at the sleeve hems and neck is mostly in excellent condition; I noticed 1 tiny hole in the back left sleeve's lace, visible in pic #7. The blouse had fraying and pulls at the side seams, and has been repaired. I've take 2 close-up pics of the side seam repairs of the blouse, pics #6 & 7. The repair looks pretty good from the front in pic #6. The back view pic #7 shows a couple pulls in the fabric of the blouse; one pull is at the left underarm, on the sleeve. The other small pull is 1/2" below the right underarm, but more toward the middle of the right side of the blouse's back. Just to the right of this pull is a pinhole. Pic #7 also shows how the repaired right blouse seam ends 1/4" above the waist; the repaired blouse seam at the left also ends 1/4" above the waist seam. Technically, a perfect repair would've taken the jumpsuit apart at the pants waist seam and repaired the blouse's side seam all the way down. This repair did not go quite that far, but I think it still will be fine on display. There are also several tiny stress pulls in the blouse where it meets the pants waist seam, visible in pic #7. The red closed toe heels are marked Japan and are in Near Mint shape.
