Beautiful, Retired, Signed MIGNON FAGET Sterling Silver Belt Buckle. This Belt Buckle is the underbelly or apron of a Female Blue Crab often referred to as a She Crab. MIgnon made this buckle in both the Male and Female apron styles. Mignon Faget started her career as a jewelry designer by creating a Sand Dollar Belt Buckle for a friend. This lead to her first jewelry collection 'Sea' in 1970. This She Crab Buckle was added to the collection in 1972, making this one of her earliest des...igns. The Female is the harder of the two buckles to find. It is marked on the underside STERLING and Mignon Faget. It is in excellent condition and weighs 42 grams. Buckle shows the typical patina from use that would be appropriate for a vintage item. It can be polished to the new owners preference. It measures 2 1/2" long x 1 7/8" wide and will fit on belts up to 1 1/2" wide.
