Antique framed picture of a youthful, in his mid 30’s, circa 1885, Sir William Osler, one of four founding professors of Johns Hopkins Hospital. William Osler at his desk at his Baltimore home at 1 West Franklin Street. This photograph was used as the frontispiece of "Counsels and Ideals From the Writings of William Osler", edited by Charles Nicoll Bancker Camac, and was also included in the Osler "Memorial Number" edited by Maude Abbott. It has a printed dedication, ...not a personally signed dedication “Ever Yours Wm Osler” atop the books on his desk. Osler created the first residency program for specialty training of physicians, and he was the first to bring medical students out of the lecture hall for bedside clinical training. This image is about 3 ½ inches by 4 ½ inches, matted and framed the total size is 7 by 10 inches.The paper is a bit toned but the shadows you see on my picture are reflections in the glass.
