Up for sale today we have a an 1897 piece of advertising ephemera that was put out by the C. I. HOOD COMPANY of Lowell, Massachusetts. It is entitled "HOOD'S PRACTICAL COOK'S BOOK FOR THE AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD. -- PUBLISHED BY C. I. HOOD & CO., LOWELL, MASS. -- COPYRIGHT 1897, FIRST EDITION, 25 M"(1897 FIRST EDITION COPY, ONE OF 25 THOUSAND COPIES PRINTED!])--
This book surprisingly doesn't have a lot of advertising for th...eir patent medicines and health and beauty aides, but was still a subtle advertising ploy to get more potential customers for their famous Hood's Sarsaparilla, and their less well known Tus Sano Cure for coughs and colds, undoubtedly an opium laced feel-good medicine. This is a fairly scarce book, published in a limited edition of just 25000 copies. I was only able to find one other copy for sale currently, a BUY-IT-NOW for fifty dollars plus S&H.--
