Up for bid are (2) antique medicine bottles from the 1850-1860's, Civil War era. These bottles are a little rough but they still tell a story. The small cylinder one is embossed; VEGETABLE PULMONARY BALSAM. The lip is damaged and the original contents are still inside with the original cork stuck inside. It stands about 5" tall and sits up kind of crooked. The taller bottle has no chips or cracks, just plenty of haze in and out standing 7-1/2" tall. ...Both could use a good soaking-cleaning in the Spa at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Vegas. Looks like these went through and survived the Civil War. Both have an open pontil scar on the base. This pontil scar is a circular sharp glass mark on the base center. This hand blowing process was not used after 1867. Process: After the bottle was hand blown the blow rod was snapped off the neck leaving sharp glass edge, Next a rod with a small glob of molten glass was stuck to bottom center to hold bottle and reheated the neck edge and finish the lip with tool as they spun it. Then the rod was snapped off the base leaving the sharp glass circular remains pontil scar. Note: The contents inside should not be handled or consumed by any human or animal.... it surly my kill you . Thanks for looking.
