Vintage WWII 1941 Levi ' S 506xx Type 1 Denim Jacket Big E Pin - Teeth Silver Buckle
Item History & Price
Up for auction is this authentic vintage Type I 506XX Levi's jacket in excellent condition. This is a First Edition jacket from World War II, made in the 1941-1943 period, probably in 1941 based on the current's owner's knowledge of this jacket. It is only lightly worn, as you can see from the photos. This jacket belonged to the current owner's mother, who moved to Long Beach, CA, from C...hicago, IL, in 1939. She bought this jacket after her move to California.
According to one source, the denim used in the Type I jackets "was made of 9oz. unsanforized Amoskeag Manufacturing Company double heavy extra strong quality, " which explains the "XX" ("The History + Original Vintage Levi's 506XX Jacket, " by Wouter Munnichs, 29 April 2017, from the Long John website). There is no doubt that this is an authentic Levi's jacket and not a reproduction. See the features listed below.
Fit is Ladies Medium, but is probably literally a Mens Small. The leather size label has worn off, but this jacket is close to the size of the current owner's 1971 jacket, which says 36R.
