The belt is navy in color and there are some visible signs of creasing and age. The Egyptian scarab belt buckle is in very good condition with minor signs of age/discoloration. There are no major dents, scratches or blemishes and no large or significant section of the gold has lost any of its sheen and brilliance. It is a truly stunning wearable piece of art.Description:This spectacular circa 1976 24K Gold Plated scarab belt buckle in the shape of an Egyptian cartouche is wonderfully appealing on many levels: visually, to the touch, and by what the scarab represents. The glowing gold tone metal Symbolic Scarab in the likeness of an Egyptian cartouche is absolutely gorgeous. The cartouche is an ancient Egyptian symbol representing a rope forming an oval around a name. Cartouches contain hieroglyphics which spell out the names of the deceased, so that their memory may live on even after their physical deaths. This cartouche contains the throne name of Tutankhamun, Neb-kheperu-Re, meaning "the Lordly Manifestations of the Sun God."
