Antique Hand Embroidered Bright Flowers Floral Piano Shawl w/ Fringe~Manton de manila.
This is a beautiful vibrant antique silk (feels like silk, but i have not confirmed) shawl that belonged to a high-end estate In Newport Beach I think it dates between 1880 and 1920. Itis all handmade and hand embroidered with theembroidery looking the same on both sides. It is embroidered all over in bright vibrant and especially set off against the cream silk background fabric.This is ofte...n called a piano shawl or manton de manila. In size it is about 48 - 49 inches square with roundedcorners and the heavy silk fringe which is about 23 inches long. the silk is pale cream with matching fringe. Condition: this is in very good condition . If you look very closely there are some faint yellow stainstypical with the age of this antique. There are a couple of tiny brownishmarks, which I have tried to photograph. I have not tried washing or cleaningit. This is a gorgeous work of art, and couldbe used for display or to wear!
