Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:39305599 | Decade: 1920s |
Original/Reproduction: Original | Look: Edwardian |
Original Edwardian/1920’s suit, consisting of pants, coat, and bowler hat. Possibly Templar/fraternal related. This would be a great set to add to someone’s collection, or for anyone looking for costuming pieces. Open to reasonable offers!
1: Frock coat, Edwardian era. No maker marks. The coat itself may be older, maybe 1880’s, as much of the construction is similar to earlier garments, and most of the lining is still done by hand, similarly to Victorian era frocks. At some po...int lining pieces were added but also hand sewn, suggesting it may have been reused or recycled later on. It looks like there were patches handsewn on to the sleeves at some point, and belt support hooks are attached at the waist, indicating that it may have been used or made for Knights Templar purposes, probably in the 1920’s-30’s. (That’s what’s commonly seen on Edwardian era Templar coats) Chest- 38inWaist- 34inSleeve (seam to cuff)- 23in
2: Trousers, 1920’s era. No maker marks, made of a nice wool flannel. They’re high waisted, pleated in the front, with a zipper fly in great shape. Two side seam pockets, two back pockets, and a watch pocket attached to the waistband in the front. Looks like silk stripes sewn integrally into the leg, so these may have also been used for Templar reasons, or could have just went to a nice suit. The hem could be let out an extra 2 1/2 inches if need be. Waist-32inInseam-28in (has room to be extended 2 1/2 in)
3: Bowler hat, size 7 1/4. Made by Tucker & Tucker, from Pittsburgh PA according to the stamped label in the sweatband. It’s seen better days, as the binding is fraying in some spots, but the sweatband and felt itself are in good shape. Would be a great addition to an Edwardian collection, and is definitely wearable for any sort of costuming.Size 7 1/4 (22 1/2 in)
Unfortunately to ship everything safely without risking the hat getting squished, it’s a little pricey, there’s not much I can change in that regard. Happy to answer any questions or take additional photos.
