Rare OLD Hat Vintage STETSON COWBOY No 1 Quality 7 1/8 with Hat BOX 1950 - 1960. Not sure if its fedora but that's my guess. Tag: Size 7 1/8Dimensions: brim edge front to back 14". brim edge Side to side 12 1/2". Crown Height: 5". Condition: used. Wear and tear from age, use and storage. Water stain and dirt as seen in photos, needs a good cleaning. Wool is supple and in good condition. Leather sweatband is surprisingly soft with no cracks visible. Interior ...silk is in good condition, the plastic is still in the crown covering the logo but the logo dye is bleeding. There is also dirty wear as seen where the head touches the crown. The lining seams are good. There are no moth marks. There is a date stamped in the hat under the sweatband and there are some initials written in ink inside as shown in the pictures, but the "No 1 Quality" stamp went out in the late 1950's as well as the logo with the stars vs the newer maple leaf, so this has the star logo so I think it is mid to late 1950's but can't tell if the stamp says 1950 or 1960 but due to the older stamps, and the Quality 1 verses the XX rating, I think 1950. I also found an old newspaper wrapped in the sweat band to maybe make the hat a bit tighter or to absorb sweat maybe. I left it in the hat as it was fun to look at. The box is fun. There are some bug trails / holes in the box as you can see in the photos, and there is a crease on the lid towards one end but the box has the hat holder and support and the lid fits well. I wasn't able to find a similar box online after a few hours of searching. Overall very nice hat. John B Stetson company Western Ranchman Outfitters 210 w sixteenth st.
