This was meant to be used by a fireman as protection from the heat. The heavy sashiko weave was designed to insulate from ...that heat. This is a long version that was designed to cover the thighs. There are some damaged places in the front. Please look at the close up photos. There are 12 vintage brass buttons with the fireman's crest on the front. It also comes with a damaged sashiko fireman's belt with the fireman's crest.
From shoulder seam down it's 42 inches long. From shoulder seam to shoulder seam it 19 inches across. From shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve cuff it's 21 1/2 inches. It weighs 6 3/4 pounds.
In 22 years of selling Japanese antiques this is the first time in our travels within Japan we've ever found a full vintage fireman's ensemble.
