This is a Chinese black lacquer jewellery box inset with mother of perl and abalone shell featuring a design of Mandarin ducks and carp leaping from the water beneath a willow tree with clouds and bamboo leaves. To the front are ducks flying over the grass with dragon flies and a beautiful ruyi-shaped lock plate.On the inside is a mirror on the underside of the lid, an upper tray in red velvet with ring trays, earring and wristwatch/ bracelet storage and a lower red vevet tray for nec...klaces etc.Comes with a traditional secret Chinese metal lock.Height 5 in (13 cm).
