Period: Regency c1815.
Marks for Matthew Boulton on underside of base and entree rim.
Dimensions: approx 350mm long (13 3/4 inches) handle to handle.
Condition: Very good, considering age. Some dings and surface scratches. Light spots of tarnish that will polish off. Warm copper tones bleeding through in places but minimal and mainly on the underside of the lower tray. A little plate loss to raised parts of the mounts. Wooden handles in good condition. Tinned grill appears to have been fixed in place in one corner. Wear commensurate with age and use. Please see photos and do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
Notes: Absolutely stunning Old Sheffield Plate entree dish and warmer by the famous Matthew Boulton & Co. Heavy quality, fantastic Regency design; decorative handles, gadroon mounts, removeable feet with wooden tips. Superb armorial crests for the Lyon family engraved to the let-in silver squares on both sides of the cover. The internal hot water section and grill are tinned.
