Language: EnglishSize: Quarto________________________
Covers:
The book (Quarto) is beautifully and unusually bound, possibly in Leather, but possibly not, with a strangely unident...ifiable pattern, possibly irises, possibly a gnarly wood effect, the boards covered in some sort of clear veneer, varnish or lacquer, and looking really rather lovely, like your favourite piece of furniture!!, blind stamp, sadly, of worthing public library to the lower rear cover, gilt fillet border detail to the front cover, the spine decorative in gilt, in six compartments with raised bands, gilt lettering pieces on green? label to compartment two, a library sticker to the tail, gilt edges, with turn ins in the same design, clearly bound my a very skilled bookbinder but sadly no identifying label, despite the blind stamp on the rear cover I doubt that the library had it bound so.Boards bear minor surface scratches and minor scuffs to corners with a small scrape to the outer edge of the rear board, and another in the centre, spine is in good condition, joints are creased and just beginning to become just a tad tender. Inside:
Library bookplate to the front marble end paper, their stamped and handwritten codes verso of the title page, their round purple stamp to the foot of the title page and appearing randomly throughout the book at the top outer corner.Presumed previous owner's stamp, in purple, to the front and rear end papers. The book is clean throughout, but a hint of toning to the margins.Illustrated in black and white. It is doubtful that the book has ever really been read judging by the condition of the page edges and margins. All pages are tightly held at the gutter.Inner hinges are sound.
The book measures 18 cm x 14.5 cm and weighs 690gThis book will be sent by registered mail.
Please look at the pictures and if you would like any more information please email me. Please understand that I am not an expert on my books, but am only a lover of old history books and collector. I am always upgrading my collection so putting my old copies on Ebay. I have done my best to describe this book based on my current knowledge, but nobody is perfect. I welcome any questions you may have about this book. I know that the pictures do not usually do justice to the books. Payments:If after 3 days of auction close I still have not received payment and have not been notified by email of arrangements, I reserve the right to offer item to second bidder
