Up for auction is a Antique Thomas Edison Telegraph Battery Oil Bottle. These bottles contained an inert oil that was poured on top of telegraph wet-cell style batteries to prevent evaporation of the electrolyte fluid. The story goes that Edison solved this problem by using simple mineral oil. His company purchased the mineral oil wholesale, added a chemical dye and then re-marketed it as: "Thomas Edison Special Battery Oil." This is what the molded letters say on the bottle along with... his molded signature. This would be a great collector item for a railroad, telegraph, or Edison collection. Condition is Used but beautiful with no chips, cracks, or breaks. This is one of the best condition bottles I have ever seen. It stands over 4 inches. Very clear glass.
