The P400 patrol ships are small vessels of the French Navy. They were designed to accomplish police operations in the French Exclusive Economic Zone. They were built by the Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie, which specialise in small military craft. Two similar ships are in service in Gabon. The P400 were originally designed in two versions: one armed with Exocet MM38 missiles, and another public service version with a smaller 16-man complement; eventually neither of these versions was commissioned as the Navy chose an intermediate version. All of these craft were based in overseas territories (DOM/TOM) where they conducted sea monitoring missions and secured the EEZ. They also executed missions in the context of French agreements with other nations, typically supporting foreign armies or carrying out humanitarian missions. Since late 2008, ships of the D'Estienne d'Orves class, with their heavy armament removed, are planned to replace the P400 in the high sea patrol role, a task for which the P400 have proved to be underweight.[

T&C's Shipping Notes To be added Notes on Shipping Charges MK Services DOES NOT seek to make profit on any shipping charges but buyers must appreciate that there are significant costs for packaging materials which we make a nominal charge for. Royal Mail Standard Small Parcels are only covered for loss to a limit of £20 GBP; items above this amount up to a limit of £50 GBP must be sent Signed For or Tracked in order to be properly covered; above this amount there are extra charges as well. Full cover is in our opinion prudent for both the buyers and sellers mutual protection. There is no ‘partial compensation’ for under insured items. SF costs approx. £5.30 extra pro rata. We are happy to ship without Signed For at buyers own risk and will require consent for this by email before shipping. We will always obtain a written Proof of Posting Slip at this end but this is not trackable. Buyers may check shipping costs at any time by visiting www.royalmail.com. International buyers should be aware that any item that exceeds the 2kg Small Airmail Packet weight limit will be SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive to ship and they should take care to investigate these costs BEFORE bidding. This should also be borne in mind when asking for multiple items to be consolidated in one shipment. We are always happy to advise and discuss these costs at any time. We are also happy to refund any postage costs that we have miscalculated once the item actually ships. In view of the large number of 'missing' or 'lost in post' items when sent to countries like Italy, Brazil and Russia, we reserve the right to insist on Signed For Shipping at our discretion Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
