This listing is for an antique Papier-mâché tantalus box with mother of pearl inlay and hand painted landscape scenes. The box when fully closed measures 13 inches or 33 cm high, 14 1/4 inches or 36 cm wide at the base and is 10 inches or 25.4 cm deep. The tantulus box has a scrolling base with gold scrolling leaf and vine design. The box opens and reveals glass and decanter holder in gilt brass and paper mache. The exterior of the box and the cover has large hand painted cartouches... with landscapes and mother of pearl inlay throughout. The box has an all over black patina or color which is all original to the piece. The condition is a follows; there are no glasses or decanters, there is some missing mother of pearl around the box and some minor splits to the paper mache.
