Centerpiece is an elegant, superbly-detailed, hand-painted depiction of the Bavarian Royal Family's coat of arms (including a rarely seen white & pink ermine coronation robe)
The Royal Bavarian 4th Infantry was garrisoned at Metz during the 1896-1898 time period.
Stein stands 10" tall (measured from the base to the top of the Bavarian Lion finial).

Acquired from the Estate of Ambassador Hugh Montgomery (1923-2017) of McLean, Virginia. Montgomery was a decorated OSS commando who served in Europe during WWII; was one of the 'founding fathers' of the CIA (having served with the Agency for more than 63 years) as well as a Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations.
