Original Description:
5” Catalina Island pottery vase in Catalina Blue. This was made on Catalina Island as opposed to the mainland. The business of making this pottery was started in early 1900’s by Industrialist WM Wrigley Jr. of chewing gum fame. He owned property on Catalina Island and wanted to provide employment for residents so they could live on the island.The earliest pottery was produced in 1927. In 1937 the company was sold and moved to the mainland, so Catalina Island Pottery was only in pro...duction for 10 years. This pottery has become highly collectible. This vase has a pin point blemish on top edge which is shown in a photo and a small chip on base edge.
