Description: A fine and rare Transitional porcelain pot, of good large size, with finely painted groups of figures (officials, attendants and musicians) in a bamboo grove. The decoration is typical of Chongzhen porcelain, ie derived from a woodblock print with a typical 'back' of rocky cliffs and swirling clouds. Pure white porcelain body with occasional impurities, iron spots. The potiche has original drilled holes for metal handles and an unglazed base.Diameter: 21.5 cm, height ...17.5 cm.Condition: Excellent condition. Has two glaze lines (not through body - not hairlines) visible only in angled light, 2.5cm and 4cm - see last two photos. Also quite marked surface wear around the shoulder on the outside of the pot and on the inside; most of the glaze is now gone on the bottom inside. The holes drilled for handles are original and glazed.
