Original Description:
Vintage 1967 concert poster of The Doors, Country Joe and the Fish, and Sparrow at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco on March 3rd and 4th, 1967.

This is a the 2nd printing, according to Eric Kings definitive guide to 60's concert memorabilia 'The Collectors Guide To Rock Concert Posters, Posters, and Handbills'. It was printed shortly after the concert in 1967.
The first printings of Doors concert posters are exceedingly rare and enormously expensive when they do come on ...the market.  For collectors of The Doors, this is certainly one of the most desirable.

Of the 18 known concert posters by The Doors, the 4 by the artist Victor Moscoso at the Avalon Ballroom are perhaps the most well known and collectible, this was the 1st of the 4 The Doors/Moscoso concert posters, number FD50 in the Family Dog series of posters. Moscoso was arguably the most psychedelic of all the 60's posters artists, with his vibrant use of colors like no other, and the 4 The Doors concert posters he did for the Avalon are simply phenomenal.
The first 2 Doors concert posters known are BG44 and BG45 from the Bill Graham series of posters in January of 1967 by the artist Wes Wilson, the 3rd known Doors concert poster is this very one by Moscoso, part of the series of 4 Moscoso did for the Doors at the Avalon between March and June 1967. So this FD50 poster is from very early in The Doors all to brief career.
The Doors signed with Elektra records in 1966 and released their first album titled 'The Doors' on January 4th, 1967, so this concert poster from March 1967 is just a couple months after they hit the scene, and were taking the world by storm. The Doors 2nd of 8 albums 'Strange Days' wasn't released until September of 1967.

Towards the center of this poster it has the phrase "Break On Through To The Other Side", which was the title of the first song on The Doors 1st album, and was their first single ever. The Doors first album spent months on the Billboard charts and peaked at number 2, stuck behind only a certain little band known as The Beatles with their album 'Sgt. Peppers'.
This poster is in very good condition plus, no pinholes, staples, or tears. The main issues would be the crease on the lower right, some bumps on the edges, and some scratches which show as very small white areas, as shown in the pictures. Overall these issues don't detract much from an otherwise amazing poster.
Kept under glass and out of direct sunlight since I bought this poster in the 1980's, still vibrant, no fading.
Great Christmas gift for Doors lovers out there!
