A wonderful antique wooden box in a gorgeous Australian Blackwood. At once a very useful size and depth for precious papers photos and documents as well as a truly beautiful object for the home.The austerity of the overall style suggest Federation, Edwardian era post 1900s.The top of the lid features a unique inlaid pattern suggesting a woven effect, all in beautiful fiddle back black wood giving a shimmering banded quality, just glorious.The rest of the box appears to be solid black ...wood and Inside a suede lining has survived nicely. All told a fabulous box with light age related wear only.
