This is an ultra rare early 1960's Mattel Chatty Cathy African American doll. She is in very nice original condition and is wearing her original tagged Chatty Cathy TM Peppermint Stick vintage outfit. This doll came from a clean no pet home. She has no open/split seams, no cracks. The torso is the same coloring as the limbs and head. She has tight limbs that hold poses well. Her eyes are clear and open and close just fine. Her lashes are full. Her hair is clean and shiny. She has origi...nal set side ponytails with ribbons. The back side of her head/hairstyle is somewhat flat, suggesting she has been resting on her back for a long time. She makes sounds when the string is pulled, but does not talk. The elastic is good on the shoes. One bow is slightly discolored as seen in the photos. Her socks and eyelet overlay blouse are a bit discolored from age. The outfit feels like it has been on her for many years. The red dress is bright with no stains, no holes. The underslip has loose elastic and will slip off her easily. The back is marked--Chatty Cathy R, C 1960, Chatty Baby TM, C 1961, By Mattel Inc., US Pat 3017187, Other US and Foreign Pats Pend, Pat in Canada 1962.
