Original and Rare "Union Pacific Gracie Allen Special Train Breakfast Menu"dated May 14, 1940.This breakfast menu in the shape of a Kangaroo which was the Mascot of the "Gracie Allen for Presidential Campaign"would have been used on her Union Pacific Railroad Whistle Stop Presidential Campaign Train.Gracie Allen was the wife of comedian George Burns and half of the very popular Burns and Allen Radio Show of the 1930's and 1940's.Her presidential campaign started as a spoof on the... radio show but then the farcical campaign became more real when she was offered the Private Railroad Car of W.Averell Harriman the Chairman of the Board for the Union Pacific Railroad to be used in her whistle stop campaign train in 1940.This Gracie Allen Union Pacific Special Train made 31 campaign stops between May 8 and May 14, 1940 going from Hollywood to Omaha, Nebraska where the National Convention of Gracie's "Surprise Party"would take place.This menu would have been used on the final day of her Whistle Stop Tour in Omaha, Nebraska.Several thousand people greeted her in Omaha and nominated her for the "Surprise Party"candidate.Later in the actual national election that year she received several thousand write-in votes.The real life Mascot of her "Surprise Party"was a Kangaroo named "Laura"and that is the kangaroo represented on the menu.The Union Pacific Gracie Allen Special Train made stops in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Utah, Denver Colorado, North Platte Nebraska and Cheyenne Wyoming before arriving in Omaha Nebraska for the so-called convention.The menu is printed on light cardboard with the Kangaroo in brownish tones and the lettering on the menu in green lettering.The Kangaroo is holding the menu with "Good Morning!
