Williams created a rotating series of comic panels (with a variety of titles, including SOMETHING OUGHT TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS) which were published daily by the Chicago Tribune syndicate. Most were gently humorous commentary on the foibles of work, family and life. This nicely rendered panel features a chilly-looking winter scene (love the scarf on the bird) and a plea to feed the birds in winter. An excellent example of Williams' deft talent with a pen. Originally published on January 26, 1929 (as per the pencil notation and the copyright indicia). After Williams' death in 1935, the syndicate offered his work as reprints. As per the Tribune the pencil notations on the front, this panel was reprinted on Tuesday, December 26, 1944 (1944 was a leap year, and 12/26 fell on a Tuesday, but the editor may have initially thought it fell on a Monday, hence the "Monday, Tuesday" notation) and again on a November 9th (year unknown). Tribune engraving room backstamp dated November 5, 194? (year illegible; probably referring to the November 9th reprint).
