This very fine antique hand plane was acquired from Lee Richmond: Rare tool expert, collector, dealer, and evaluator.He was a regular on Antiques Roadshow for ten years, and his online store is still available at: thebestthings.com
I purchased this hand plane years ago from Lee directly. All the parts are original as received from him. The tote and knob are Brazilia...n rosewood. The tote, which appears to somewhat crudely shaped and showing tool marks is absolutely original. I spoke with Lee recently to verify this. The blade is sharp and un-nicked. The sole has marks that look like dots from beingstored on a rubber mat with like textures. The underside of the lever cap still has the hand printed label from Lee's inventory list.
