Vintage Stanley Bailey No. 6 Jointer Plane Type 19 Antique HeavyDeciding to thin out my collection of tools so this plane is up for auction. I acquired this plane shortly before getting a No. 7, so it hasn’t seen much use after being cleaned up. I find myself working on smaller and smaller projects over the years, thus it is time to pass it along for others to enjoy. This thing is heavy! I can’t imagine the wartime planes being much heavier than this. It’s a beast that’ll sing ...through anything!I am a hobbiest woodworker and this plane is an excellent user and/or addition to your collection. I am not a collector nor an expert regarding all of the nuances with Stanley planes and their history. Plane dating is per one of several flowcharts found online that I have consulted over the past 10-20years. I believe the plane is complete with Type 19 parts, however, I cannot guarantee that. Iron is a thicker replacement by Record, another fine manufacturer from yesteryear. If you need any photos of bits and parts, please ask.Japanning is likely around 90%. Iron is freshly sharpened with a microbevel at 30*. Tote and knob have no damage except for some finish loss. Plane iron and chipbreaker mate tightly at the cutting edge. Lever cap is free of any chips with a small bit of nickel loss. Iron has no pitting. Plane is marked imperfect, but the only imperfection I can find is a small group of casting pits on one side. Nothing that affects performance and a common reason for the stamp in that era. Sides and bottom could easily be brought to a shine, if desired. To my eye I prefer the duller grey of a vintage plane.Please look carefully at the pictures and ask any questions before bidding.Please see my other items up for auction.
