Early Union No 7C Wood Jointer Plane Marked Pat Apl ' D For W/ Stanley R&L Iron

You are bidding on one Union Number 7C corrugated wood jointer plane as pictured. There are some condition issues, including a non-original iron, so please keep reading.It is marked with "UNION No 7" cast into the bed towards the back end, and "PAT APL'D FOR" on the lateral lever. The iron is obviously a replacement as it is marked "STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO NEW BRITAIN CONN USA" on 4 lines. The iron is about 2-3/8" in width, which is the proper width for the plane.Overall lengt...h is about 21-9/16".The front knob is beaded and appears to be proper, and the lever cap has the Union shaped spring. Condition is fair, with lots of rust and dirt and the replaced iron, but no fatal issues and much better with a cleaning. The bottom and especially the sides have quite a bit of rust and patina (color), with a few little areas of light pitting. The front knob is not cracked or split, but has a lot of dings and scratches. The rear handle is not broken anywhere near the base, but has two large chips at the upper end, and a lot of scratches mostly on the right side. The iron and chip breaker have quite a bit of rust and some bits of light pitting. The lever cap has some chips on the lower edge, and again some rust and bits of light pitting. Except as noted, there are no cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything operates properly.
