Up for sale is a solid brass railroad switch lock for the Southern Kansas Railroad. This lock is a rare Post Company padlock, made in Cincinatti Ohio with a 1878 patent date. SKRR is marked on the shackle and the Southern Kansas only existed throughout the 1870's so the patent date on the Post lock is in the heart of the timeframe. The back of the shackle has the S designation for switch lock. The Post Co logo is on the key hole cover. The key hole cover d...oes not have spring so it moves freely. The lock is operational and unlocks/locks normally but the key is not included in the bid, this is for the brass padlock only. Overall, a very tough find and will add well to any collection.
