This beautiful machine is a special edition Remington Rem-ette from 1939. It is among the most rare Remingtons because it was produced in a small quantity, and was a special edition for the 1939 New York World's Fair. Both the colors of th...e case (in navy and orange, with orange stripes) and the color and decal of the typewriter were only available in this special edition. You can see the Trylon and Perisphere decal on the left of the typewriter, which was one of the main spectacles at the 1939 World's Fair. This typewriter is an amazing piece for display, or even use as it functions perfectly! This is definitely a special collector's item for anyone interested in items from the World's Fairs!
I was unable to find exactly how many of these special edition typewriters were produced, but from my research very few of these have ever been sold online.
This typewriter was in a storage unit for many years, and came to me in amazing shape for it's age. It has been fully restored. The entire typewriter and case has been cleaned, and all mechanics examined and tuned. It is in perfect working condition, with a newly inked ribbon. Look at photo 3 for a typesample.
The original deep navy wrinkle paint on the body of the typewriter gives it an amazing sheen and glitter when in the light, which is beautifully complemented by the gold of the decals and the gloss of the round keys.
This typewriter and the case has all of its original parts, including the metal typewriter ribbon spools finished with the same original navy wrinkle paint!
The trylon and perisphere decal has been professionally reproduced, applied, and perfectly matches what the original decal would have looked like. The Remington decal on the paper tray is completely original, along with the decal on the back. The decal on the back has a few scuffs, but because the typewriter is bolted to the case (easily removable if need be, by unscrewing four screws, but all Remington Rem-ettes were fastened to the case for daily transport), it is out of view, even when the case is fully open.
The paint job is in pristine shape; there are absolutely no chips or imperfections, except for one at the back of the typewriter about the size of a sesame seed, which has been paint matched and now is absolutely unnoticeable.
The case exterior of the case has some small dents, which have been paint matched to the color of the case so as to blend in. These dents do not affect the structure of the case at all.
Please feel free to email me with any questions about the restoration process or other details! Also, don't be hesitant to use the button to send an offer, and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible!
Note: Typewriter is fully restored, and sold as-is.
