Seeing many people are home this year we decided to host a large two-week holiday special estate auction! We have been working hard over the last month putting together several amazing estate collections that we will be offering over the next month.&n...bsp;
Joanies is excited to be offering two large family estate collections. The first family lived in Shanghai and came to Canada c1932, the second family in c1960 bring a vast amount of family items with them at the time so the provenance is very good. We have offered a large amount of items from the second family’s collection already that brought great interest. We thought this estate was complete until we got a call that the garage was also full of boxes packed away and never opened since 1960! This is now for certain the last estate sale from the family.
Over the past 20 years Joanies has hosted Hundreds of estate auctions, auctioning upwards of one hundred thousand fine estate items during this time. And during this entire time, Joanie's has Never had a Reserve on one item ever! We take great pride in only offering fine quality and authentic fresh to market estate items that we know have been with families for decades or generations. Up for auction is a VERY RARE 19THC CHINESE SILK 12 CRANES IMPERIAL SUMMER COURT ROBE QING DYNASTY. Part of a large two-day estate collection being offered this week. This robe was brought out of China by the family c1932 and if full guaranteed to be an authentic Qing dynasty period example.
The robe has spent most of the last 90 years carefully stored away in a linen chest, the robe is in pristine condition for its antique age retaining its vibrant colors consistently throughout with no variance to either side. The robe has twelve finely detailed crane medallions and a finely decorated base design. The robe is thinly made as seen, indicating this is what would likely be referred to as a “Summer Robe”. A beautiful and rarely found example of investment-grade.
We have included an image of a very similar example that sold in 2011 at Christies auction to show the great investment potential such examples can have. As our auction have run online for close to 20 years now this fine silk robe is being offered Without Reserve. Size: Measuring 72 inches across the arms, 29 inches across the centre body and 40 inches wide at the base. The robe measures 56 inches in length.
