Extremely Rare ‘ArtBronz’Egyptian Revival or Art Deco Lady Lamp in an Egyptian Motif made by KathodianBronze Works of NYC. The deco lampfeatures a tall Egyptian Queen standing or ‘floating’ above a small pinkalabaster lamp shade. The base of thelamp is a double inkwell & pen stand with a pair of prominent Pharaoh King’sbusts on each corner. The Kathodian BronzeWorks (KBW) produced quality art metal bronzes under the trademark ‘ArtBronz’. Theymanufactured fi...gural sculptures, lamps & lighting, bookends and decorativepieces, using the newly developed process of bronze electroforming. The company was in operation from 1900 through1916, located on 501 Fifth Ave in New York City, thus making this aparticularly RARE find. The Exquisite 110yr-old Art Deco Lamp has a great patina and has been rewired, using 8 feet of periodreproduction cloth cord. It measures 10”across by 8” deep by 14” tall and weighs 8-1/2 lbs. The inkwell pockets measure 1-1/2” square – theseam along the backside of the left inkwell pocket has separated exposing someof the plaster form – but it has no effect on structural integrity and onlyadds to the character of this one-of-a-kind work of art. (Note: The lamp wasalways sold without the glass inkwells.) Also, the brass caps on each side ofthe lady, that hold her in place, are slightly different – the one on the leftis original. To replace the lamp bulb, both caps must be removed and the lady lifted off the base in order to lift thealabaster shade to expose the bulb. Thelamp has been in storage for a couple of decades and is a little dusty, so inneed of a good cleaning. The Rare KBWArtBronz Lamp is in VG+ Condition for its age and is being auctioned here at abargain 'Buy It Now' price!
