The button is unique to the M2 and some M1 cameras ( I don't coun't the M1 because there is no working rangefinder and difficult to use ...I never understood the idea about the M1 ) button rewind lever, and no self timer. ...Basically like the original MP and MP2 camera. These were the first of the M2 series that came out and later they added the self timer. A nice example!Mechanics 7/10Shutter speeds are accurateThe camera is in need of a CLA - Shutter fires but the first curtain drags and the advance is a tiny bit stiff. That is the sign of a DRY camera and it does need a CLA.
The other camera functions are working well. Optics 9/10Viewfinder/rangefinder is clean and clearThe button M2 is really something special. Something totally unique to the Leica system and moving form the M3 transitional series, many new features were used and then all standardised to later the M3 single stroke and the M2 with the self timer.
The M2 button are rare and if you know the historical changes at Leica during this time, I would consider this part of the few GOLDEN YEARS at Leica. Mid 1950's- Early 1960's.A nice example. A special camera and nice to have and enjoy!
