RARE VICTORIAN STERLING SILVER COMBINATION VESTA, SOVEREIGN CASE & WATCH CLOCK

It is oblong in shape with a watch at the top which is in working order. the front is inscribed 'Charlie'. The base opens to reveal the vesta holder and closes with a satisfying 'snap'. If you press the top winder a compartment at th...e back opens to reveal the sovereign holder with a spring loaded sovereign slot ( a bit 'sticky' to operate). The item measures approx. 8.2cm including the suspension ring x 3.3cm wide x 1.3cm deep.
On the edge of the vesta case under the lid there are hallmarks; Chester, D for 1887, WN for William Naul, the queen's head (Victoria 'bun head'), lion passant. The other side is stamped 'THORNHILL NEW BOND STREET LONDON'.
The cover to the sovereign case is marked with the queen's head, D and PATENT No 15849.
There are additional queen's head marks to the exterior as can be seen in the photos.
