Here is your chance to own a rare polished wooden puzzle box made by Don Rupard (1932 - 2019) from Centerville, VA. This puzzle box has 13 pieces to it. This stands about 6 1/2" high & is about 5 1/4" x 5" and weighs just under 2 pounds.
The finish & coloring of this piece resembles petrified wood. This piece shows the ...wide growth rings of the log this came from. There are also many "worm" holes throughout this natural piece of wood turned artistic puzzle box by the master Don Rupard.
Once you remove the "keystone" piece that locks the pieces together, all of the additional puzzle pieces & hidden compartments can then be revealed.
The artists signature D.Rupard 1989 is embossed on 1 end in black. You can feel the sunken letters, these are not applied. This is in very good condition for being 31+ years old! Please view the photos showing the condition & all of the pieces that makes up this one of a kind work of art.
The last photo shows the only issue where a small piece has broken off leaving an unfinished surface This is circled and is about 1" in length and 1/4" wide. This could easily be addressed with some matching varnish. As the coloring matches this is not very noticable.
Don Rupard puzzle boxes do not come up for sale on Ebay very often & the majority are much smaller with fewer pieces.
This piece will be carefully packaged & insured as needed to ensure delivery of this rare & valuable piece.

On Dec-29-20 at 15:55:02 PST, seller added the following information:12/29/2020 - The Ebay limit is 12 images. I have been requested to add additional images. I am unable to delete existing images & replace with other ones (IE: combining 2 pics into 1 image). I am also unable to add any replies to questions in the FAQ section as I was hoping I could show additional information there. I am limited to adding text to the description.
I can provide up to 5 additional images on request. Your message preferences in Ebay needs to be set to accept HTML. I can then provide additional images to show how the pieces fit into the main piece.
I have also been informed this piece may be one of Don's chestnut pieces from old fence posts. I can see that but cannot validate if this is correct, only what I have provided above & with the images for your review.
