Please see the other items I have listed.This listing is for a late 19th/early 20th century kukui nut pendant with solid 14k gold findings (tested) and an intricately carved Waikiki beach scene complete with coconut trees, hale pili (grass house), and iconic Lēʻahi (aka Lae'ahi or Diamond Head). I believe this was carved by German-born Italian-trained carver Frank Nikolous Otremba (active in Hawai'i 1882 - 1910) who was known for doing intricate carvings on kuk...ui nuts. Approx 3/4" diameter. Incredible intricate carving of Hawai'i's most famous landmark!In the legend of Pele and Hi‘iaka, Hi‘iaka is said to have compared Diamond Head to the brow (dorsal fin) of the ‘ahi (Hawaiian tuna fish) saying, "Me he i‘a la ka Lae o 'Ahi; E kalali au ae nei i ke kai." (Like a fish is the Brow-of-the-'ahi; Resting high above the sea.)
