VINTAGE JAPANESE SHOWA C. 1930 SIGNED HANDMADE CERAMIC KASHIZARA APPETIZER DISH

This is a vintage Japanese early Showa Era (c. 1930) hand made (hand thrown) ceramic earthenware pedestal kashizara (appetizer dish). This dish is partially glazed inside and out with an olive glaze in an orange peel effect. The glaze is skillfully sprayed on to create the mottle appearance and is in opposing sides from interior to exterior (see pictures). The dish has a signature stamp on its base (see picture 7) and is made of a high fired ceramic for lasting durabilit...y. Kashizara were used as a dish to hold snacks (especially cakes), or small appetizers often used in chado (tea ceremony). Having been in storage, with exception to a small chip on the base (see picture 10), this kashizara remains in very good condition. It measures 4 1/2" in diameter and 2 3/4" tall (11.4 x 7 cm).
