A very good engraved brass stamp in the style of the bindings made in France and Italy for Jean Grolier in the mid 16th century. The shank is stamped HICKS, a leading toolmaker in London around 1897 up to the 1960s The face of the tool measures 13mm by 15mm and shows no wear or damage. Set in an old wooden handle with no cracks and moderate charring.
