This vintage "The Adder" adding machine by Arthur Postans is in "as found" condition.The "Adder" is a single-column desktop adding machine with a three-digit register and a ten-key setting mechanism. The mechanism was designed by Arthur Postans of South Kensington, and is described in his British Patent 24868 of 1902 (also in US Patent 786839, filed in 1903). The machine did not enter production until 1908, and was discontinued by the 1920s.I can't find any cracks or splits to the cop...per body of the machine, however, there are the usual scuffs, marks and scratches you would associate with the years of use. The impressed snake logo and name are still crisp and clear, as is the cartouche with "Patented Throughout The World".There are two cracks to the glass and there is also a replacement screw holding it in place. The serial number "7513" is impressed underneath. All of the mechanisms appear to work, however, the "10"s column is a little sticky, towards the higher numbers.The red numbers and word "Zero" to the keys are still clear and legible.
