Rare and original, ca1900, Miniature / Child's Toy Cast Iron Sewing Machine called the "Muller 20" manufactured by the Muller Company of Germany. Although this is a very heavy and well made child's toy it is still a fully functioning, hand cranked, cast iron sewing machine and manufactured to the same high quality standards as larger, full size machines. The machine measures approx. 6 3/4" tall and 5 3/4” by 4" at the base. The machine forms a single-thread chain stitch, and was prod...uced at the turn of the 20th Century
The Muller 20 was one of a number of models of diminutive, cast iron Sewing Machines that were manufactured by the Muller Company and sold both in the United States and in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This variety is considered among the most attractive of the Muller designs and features a footed, shaped base and very attractive, Art Nouveau style, gold gilt decoration.
This original, Cast Iron, Child's Toy Sewing Machine is complete and in working condition. The surface paint and gold gilt decoration is worn and there is surface oxidation to the areas that have lost their surface paint. Please see the scans below for a good indication of the form and the condition of the surface of this wonderful, cast iron Child’s Sewing Machine.
