This is a great grouping of two lithographed tin noisemakers that wereproduced by Kirchhof, and also a tin litho sparkler made by an unknownmanufacturer.
The tin pan clanger is in very good condition and features a cool-looking witchaccompanied by black cats, bats, crescent moons, and stars. This piece retainsboth of its wooden clapper balls. It does have an old sticker on the reverseside from a former owner. This clanger is from Kirchhof’s mid-century Life of the PartyLine, dating it to the 1950s.
The round ratchet features a smiling and winking Jack o’ Lantern and this pieceretains its original red wooden handle. This one is earlier dating from the1930s or 1940s. It is in good condition with some light paint loss mostly onthe back side, and an old sticker from a former owner.
The awesome sparkler features a black and white kitty cat against a brightlycolored red and yellow background. This piece does spin nicely, but no longersparks. I have been told that it is possible to bring back the sparkling effectby use of a lighter “flint.” I am unsure how it would be replaced, however.This toy is in very good condition with very little paint loss. The celluloidor heavy cellophane eyes are still intact.
Noisemakers such as these were used as party favors, decorations for the tableand game prizes at those great old parties from mid-century America. Enjoy!
