Original Description:
This listing is for a vintage Havalite pencil lighter and pipe tamper. This item was made in Rochester, New York by the A. G. Stevenson Company in either 1929, or very early 1930's; the "PAT PEND" verifies that this is an early model. This pencil lighter is made of Bakelite, and is in good condition. It has some light wear on the pencil body, but no flaws. There is some very light corrosion on the metal portions, but it is just on the surface, and should clean up a good bit if desired.... The clip is loose, but it doesn't flop around. There is lead in the pencil, and the mechanics work as designed. The flint tube is clear, and with a flint inserted a nice spark is produced. This is a petrol lighter, and although it has NOT been filled and tested it should function properly. Thank you for stopping by, and please feel free to place a bid!
!!!!!DO NOT ATTEMPT TO STRIKE YOUR LIGHTER WHEN YOU RECEIVE IT. I DONOT SHIP ANY LIGHTER WITH A FLINT INSERTED, AND A DRY STRIKE CAN DAMAGE IT. YOUMUST INSERT A FLINT PRIOR TO STRIKING IT!!!!!*****NOTICE*****Please understand that you are bidding on lighters that are likely a halfcentury old or more. I DO NOT guarantee that the lighter you are purchasingwill work. I do make every effort to clear out the flint tubes and show thelighters sparking, but I DO NOT add any fuel to the lighters to check for leaksor ignition. I cannot ship a lighter with a trace of fuel in it or I face HEAVYfines, therefore I do not add fuel. I WILL NOT accept a return for a lighterthat leaks or doesn’t ignite. Please keep in mind that if a wick lightersparks, has a wick and cotton, it should light with no issue. Butane lighterswill sometimes begin to leak over time, but that is not definite. If they doleak it is usually a matter of replacing the seals, and the lighter works fine.I DO remove the flint prior to shipping to insure there will be no spark. The buyer isresponsible for purchasing insurance should it be desired. The seller will useUSPS First Class or Priority depending on weight of package for all domesticshipments. The seller will use USPS Priority for ALL international shipments unlessinstructed otherwise by the buyer. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I WILL NOT BEOFFERING USPS FIRST CLASS INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING ANYMORE. I am not able to insure First ClassInternational packages, nor can I track them. I have had several packages thatwere lost, and I have to issue the buyer a full refund; ultimately I am thesole victim. The seller is not responsible for package once USPS receives it. THE BUYER ISRESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A CORRECT AND CURRENT ADDRESS. ANY PACKAGES RETURNEDTO SELLER BECAUSE OF AN INCORRECT ADDRESS WILL REQUIRE ADDITIONAL POSTAGE FROMTHE BUYER. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. I WILL COMBINE SHIPPING ONMULTIPLE PURCHASES. PLEASE MAKE PAYMENT WITHIN 5 DAYS. I never charge one cent over the USPSrate. However, eBay gives all sellers a discount on shipping charges if wepurchase postage through their site. The discount will vary from 3% tosometimes as high as 20%. The seller DOES NOT know what discount they will begiven until the postage is purchased. Please DO NOT ask for a refund forshipping charges. THIS IS ALL VERIFIABLE THROUGH EBAY. Thank you for your consideration. I will always leavefeedback for all purchases, and would be grateful if the buyers would do thesame!
