Thesebrass air pumps with wooden knob handles were used with Coleman and otherlanterns as well as irons. It has beenin the same family for many years and a just found in a box item. The fuel container at the base of thelamp/lantern is pressurized by means of a hand pump. This forces fuel and fumes up into thelantern so that when a mixture of fumes and air come in contact with a mantlecloth and the mantle is lit, it will glow. These pumps were used for Coleman lan...terns that did not have a built inpump mechanism. The pumps have sometimesbeen called QuickLite pumps but I see no Coleman insignia on the pump. Thispump does work. It does not have anydings, dents, or cracks in the 1” diameter cylinder. The wooden ball handle of the pump is sturdywith a few scratches on one side and some hand wear. This particular pump is 5 “long and includingthe handle about 71/8”. The pump fullyextended measures app. 11 ½” long. Thepump tip is in great condition. There issome tarnishing on the brass body that can be polished. This is sold in ‘As is” as found condition.
