An Antique Chinese Incense Burner Lid With A Male Fu Dog/Lion On TopThis really looks to have some age to it.I can't be sure about the date of this but I will update the listing after I get an opinion from a friend. The condition is very good save for a small amount of age acquired wear on the Dog's/Lion's neck and back. Everywhere else looks pretty good, the carvings have some residue of some kind of cleaning material in places but are well defined.5" diameter and 4" tall to the top of... the Dog's head.It is quite heavy for it's size and weighs over 500grammes, it also has a lovely ring when struck.A very nice antique item with a rich age acquired patina and also in great condition.Someone somewhere must be looking for a lid like this for a suitable censer that doesn't have one. Thanks for looking.
Have now had the update and my knowledgeable friend has pretty much confirmed my original thoughts on this lovely item. He went on to say that it is definitely Chinese and is from the mid1800's, probably around 1850/1860's, not terribly valuable at around £45/60 but is a really, reallyattractive piece. Thanks for looking.
