Original Description:
Offered is an original Japanese Naval Veteran Reservist Unit flag. 30”x39” excluding the fringe. Heavy weight reinforced silk. Due to the nature of the silk used in the production of these flags, they deteriorated rapidly under normal wear and weathering and this example exhibits numerous atypical surface separations. However, this does not detract since the Japanese never mended or repaired their unit flags and carried them to the point where only the fringe rema...ined! See two historical images for context. Flag has tremendous character and is an impressive display piece. Low starting bid and no reserve.
